Sweet, hot, or both, these basic baked beans go great with anything you’re smoking, bbqing, or grilling.

Ingredients:

  • 1 16 oz cans pinto beans, drained (I look for beans that are just beans & water)
  • 1 Tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 Tbsp catsup
  • 1 Tbsp cider vinegar
  • 2 oz bourbon
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tsp mild chili powder
  • 1 Tbsp yellow mustard powder
  • 8 oz water (or ale)
  • If you want it spicy, add…
  • 2 Jalapenos or 1 Serrano pepper, finely diced
  • 1 Tbsp cayanne pepper
  • 1 Tbsp Sriracha

Directions:

  • Add all ingredients to a saucepan, cook on low heat for 1-2 hours. Stir occasionally, and add a little water if the beans get too thick
